The digital engineering company Nitor increased its revenue by 8.2% in 2021, reaching approximately 35.4 million euro. Operating income for the financial year 2021 grew to 6.9 million euro (+1.8%). Demand for Nitor’s services grew as businesses actively invested in digital development. Nitor, based in Finland and Sweden, also took a major step in its sustainability work by appointing two dedicated Sustainability Engineers.

The year 2021 marked yet another successful year for Nitor, despite the continued Covid-19 pandemic and the apparent turbulence in the global job market The digital engineering company’s annual revenue grew by 8.2% in 2021, reaching approximately 35.4 million euro. Operating profit for the financial year 2021 grew to 6.9 million euro, up 1.8% from the previous year. In 2022, Nitor celebrates its 15th anniversary with a record number of colleagues joining the team and the opening of a new office in Tampere.

“The role of digital services continues to grow. I’m proud that throughout Nitor’s 15 years, we have successfully met the demands of our customers and, together with them, helped make digital development sustainable”, says Olli Auvinen, CEO of Nitor.

In 2021, Nitor took a major step in developing its sustainability work by appointing two Sustainability Engineers who will use their working time improving the company’s sustainability work together with Nitoreans. The initial focus is on evaluating Nitor’s current environmental footprint, finding relevant sustainability process frameworks and external partners who will facilitate the work further.

“Sustainability challenges are major drivers for reshaping existing processes, solutions and structures for the better. We want to lead by example and enable a more humane and diverse work culture. In our work, we help our customers solve their sustainability challenges in the digital world. It’s exciting to see practices like green coding finally starting to trend,” Auvinen says.

The company also invested considerably into operations both in Finland and Sweden, in an effort of building the organisation to meet the demands of scaling the business forward in the coming years.

Even as the pandemic continued in 2021, Nitor succeeded in maintaining strong customer relationships and meeting evolving customer needs. It’s notable that Nitor continues to be the high-water mark of customer satisfaction in the IT industry, achieving again an outstanding result in the annual customer satisfaction survey conducted by the business analysis company Onway. Based on the survey, Nitor’s position as the strategic partner for its clients is strengthening year by year.

Nitor highly values long-term partnerships, where committed teams get to become bigger than the sum of their parts. For example, how Nitor’s deepening partnership with the Finnish retail giant S Group grew into crucial services like electric vehicle charging. On the other hand, newer cooperation, such as the technology partnership with the Swiss u-blox – a leading global provider of positioning and wireless communication technologies and services – shows that good work generates possibilities beyond our current imaginations.

You can’t predict the future, but with sustainable digital development, you can succeed in it.
